Can my laptop be used as monitor / keyboard for my desktop?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 and try to hook it up to a desktop computer.
Is there a way I can use them both or switch between them while using the laptop’s monitor and keyboard?
I was wondering if there was a way without using wireless network
It can be done, but only through software and not very easily. Basically you’ll need to remote into your desktop via a program like RealVNC. You can share the keyboard using a program called Synergy (there are other programs out there like it, but Synergy is the only one I’m familiar with).
Last time I looked the Synergy team was working on trying to figure out how to share the monitor as well but hadn’t made any progress in that direction. At some point in the future they may be figure it out at which point Synergy will be able to do what you want, but for now VNC is as close as you’re going to be able to get.
