Cheap Laptop Screen Replacements?
Hi. I recently got a laptop for free, but the screen on it is broken – lines going up and down and parts of it just plain black because of a fall. It’s a Dell Inspiron 1501 and otherwise appears to be in pretty good shape. I’ve looked online and see that replacement screens are so expensive! I’m wondering if there’s anyway I could get a screen for less than $100? Even Ebay is more than that. I didn’t realize they were so pricey. Thanks!
If the laptop has been dropped the problem may be the motherboard rather than the screen. If you have to replace the screen you often can buy a working laptop cheaper.
If you are technically adept you could try dismantling the laptop to look for damaged areas or loose cables. The ribbon cable connecting the screen is a likely suspect.You can however find Dell service manuals online to help.
Dropping a laptop is BAD news. They are expensive to fix and often ‘given away’.
